Today on the blog we are sharing a festive red, white, and blue tablescape for the Mint Sweater Girl hostess.

We love to celebrate and have a good time with friends and loved ones on the holidays and this tablescape is a great way to add a little festive decor to your holiday gathering this Independence Day.

Tablescape Set Up:

We recommend starting with a white tablecloth to give you a blank canvas to work with. Using a white tablecloth also provides empty space to neutralize all the pop of colors from the red, white, and blue accents.

Next, we start with the centerpiece and then work our way out. We like to keep our centerpieces elegant and simple, but fun. So we put on our green thumbs and created this firework inspired bouquet of flowers. We use white daisies, red carnations, burnt red/orange tiger lilies, and blue hydrangeas. We cut out star shapes out of glitter stationary and glued them to sticks to accessorize the bouquet.

Once you’ve created a base to work with, we then move on to the surrounding area. Around the bouquet of flowers, we placed red, white, and blue candles along with firework sparklers. Remember to keep the table well-balanced, keeping the items placed equally on both sides to keep the overall look easy on the eyes.

The centerpiece of the table doesn’t have to only remain in the center. A great centerpiece also spreads to either side of the table, giving the whole table length and depth.

Once you’ve created your centerpiece and surrounding areas, it’s time to create the individual place settings.

For each of the table settings, first, place a placemat down, we alternated red and blue, followed by a white plate, a cloth napkin wrapped with alternating napkin rings (either a bangle or flag as the example shown in pictures) and finally placing a cup opposite the color of the place mat.

Try to alternate color with blank space to keep the colors from clashing and overloading the eye with too much color.

Keeping the plate and napkin neutral and simple allows for a more casual look, while also leaving space for the napkin ring to stand out. Using a fun, festive napkin ring adds the perfect touch to wrap up the look of each place setting.

Getting two different types of placemats, napkin rings, and cups creates a fun alternating look throughout the table while still staying cohesive and on theme.

Leaving space at either end of the table for the main dishes, along with adding touches such as these patriotic straws and serving plates turns the ordinary serving plates into a more festive dish platter.

Finally, we added clear balloons filled with red, white, and blue star-shaped confetti to give this backyard patio tablescape a fun twist to show your guest they’re here for a good time.

Finally, to finish off this patriotic Fourth of July tablescape, here are our favorite ways snacks to get the party started.

Cheese, crackers, fruit, salami platter.

Red, white, and blue jello shots.

Red Cabernet wine & white Chardonnay wine from Wilsons Creek Winery.
